Rita Darlene Ricks

Rita Darlene Ricks, 63, died Tuesday, March 28, 2023, in Amarillo, TX. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at New Beginnings Gospel Center located at 1400 SW 8th Avenue, Amarillo, TX. The service will be held at New Beginnings Gospel Center at 2:00 pm on April 5, 2023.

Rita was born on November 2, 1959, to Gary and Mary Long Bird. She married Carl Dean Ricks on November 19, 1999, and they were the parents of five children: Kyla, Jackie, Donald, Michael, and Kim. Last year they were fortunate to renew their marriage vows.

There were many things that Rita loved—her family being number one. She loved to collect pictures and had nearly 1000 pictures on her computer. Most of those were family. She also loved Elvis and his music. She loved to make things like beaded keychains and crocheted doll dresses and blankets. Rita had a great sense of humor and was considered quite ornery.

Mrs. Ricks was preceded in death by her father, Gary Bird, and by a brother, Michael Marburger.

She is survived by her spouse, Carl Ricks, her children, Kyla Holland (David), Jackie Marburger, Donald Marburger, and Kim Hobson (James), her mother, Mary, and a sister, Carla Robinson (Jerry), two aunts, Roberta Johnson, (Charles), Geneva Carlile, and two uncles, John Long and Tommy Long (Donna). She also had six grandchildren, Madison, Hailey, Trevor, Seth, Rodney, and Lilly along with many cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends of the family.
