Rita Ann Freeman, 82, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, January 27, 2016. Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday, January 30, 2016 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter.
Rita was born on October 27, 1933 in Amarillo, Texas to Ollie and Almeda Herrmann. She grew up in Amarillo where she graduated from St. Mary's Catholic School. She attended Notre Dame University earning a Bachelors Degree in Home Economics. She married Ted Freeman on December 28, 1957. She went on to raise a family of five along with her charitable work at the Junior League of Amarillo, her volunteer work with Advo Care Facilties who provided the care and development for her son Teddy all the while working side by side with her husband at Ted Freeman Florist on 45 and Western. Her remaining time she divided between playing bridge all over the world on the internet and at Amarillo Duplicate Bridge Club then the rest of her time was spent educating her kids, grandkids and all who had the privilege of knowing her in the art of expletive communications.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Jack Herrmann and Dick Herrmann, three sisters, Doris Downey, Marlynn Rogers, and Gail Sealman.
She is survived by her husband, Ted Freeman; children, Teddy Freeman, David Freeman, Matt Freeman, Rita Johnson and Ann Howard; grandchildren, Blake Howard, Dane Howard, Bree Howard, Laurel Johnson, Joel Johnson, Connor Freeman, Katy Freeman; and her brother and sister in law, Jerry and Madeline Herrmann.
