His rosary will be said at 6 p.m. today in LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Laurence Catholic Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Gabriel Garcia of St. Laurence Catholic Church officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Military honors will be rendered by the Army. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.
Richard was born Dec. 10, 1939, in Lubbock to Antonio and Isabel Aragon Romero. He was educated and raised in Lubbock; he enlisted in the Navy on Jan 21, 1958. He received the good conduct medal and was honorably
discharged on May 16, 1961. He married Maria San Miguel in 1962 in Lubbock.
He moved to Amarillo in 1963, where he was employed for many years as a U.S. postal worker. After his retirement he became a National Guard member from 1970 to 1990. Richard was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to play games of all kinds with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, four sisters, two brothers and a granddaughter.
Survivors include six daughters, Mary Juarez of Las Vegas, Norma and Zulema Juarez, both of Amarillo, Rosa DeLa Fuente of Houston, Helen Salazar of Port Arthur and Michelle Constancio of Texas City; two sons, Oscar Juarez of San Antonio and Ricky Juarez of Panama City, Fla.; two sisters, Maria Romero of Gilroy, Calif., and Patsy Brito of Pasadena; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
