Richard Terrance "Terry" Neslage
May 19, 1956 - November 21, 2017
Richard "Terry" Neslage, 61, of Amarillo passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017. Memorial services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 25, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors.
Terry was born on May 19, 1956 in Pampa to Fredrick and Dorothy Neslage. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1974 and attended West Texas State and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He moved to Borger in 1979 and married the love of his life, Karen Ann Melton on June 16, 1979 at St. John's Catholic Church. He worked as Plant Manager for Borger Redi Mix from 1979 to 2000 and then he owned Advantage Advertising and Production until retiring in 2014. Terry and Karen had two children, Sarah, a.k.a "Killer" and James, a.k.a. "Jaws". Terry was involved in the Lake Meredith Annual Wayhli tournament, Fish Fry committee and various civic organizations such as the Planning and Zoning commission. He was the President of the Borger Chamber of Commerce and the country club pool reconstruction. He was also involved in the Boy Scouts Troop 507.
Terry loved taking his family to the lake where they participated in boating, skiing and shooting trap (he didn't like killing animals). He loved to listen to live music and was known for deep frying turkeys at Thanksgiving and loved to barbeque where he could be found smoking ribs and briskets on the weekend and swimming in the pool. He was so proud when his children graduated college, married and had their own children. Terry was a generous person and wanted to help the less fortunate people any way he could. He loved having fun and laughing with friends and will be deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Neslage and one sister, Judy Neslage.
He is survived by Karen; his daughter, Sarah Engels and husband Eric; his son, James Neslage and wife Tamara; three grandchildren, Riley Engels, Presley and Piper Neslage; five brothers, Fred, Bob, Bill, Tom and Tim and three sisters, Marion Gerome, Jean Wright and Patsy Urbanovsky.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked donations be made in honor of Terry to University of Texas Southwest Medical Center Development Office, P.O. Box 910888, Dallas, TX. 75390 or to Parkinsons Research.
