1937-2016

Richard Ray Keene, 79, of Amarillo died on Sunday, September 25, 2016. Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, September 30, 2016 at Paramount Baptist Church, 3801 S Western Street with Rev. Lance Herrington, associate pastor officiating. Burial will follow at  Memory Gardens. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter Road.

Richard was born on July 2, 1937 in San Antonio, Texas to Oliver Frederick Clayton and Marguerite Keene. He grew up in San Antonio where he graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School.  He married Marilyn L. Stone on August 30, 1968 in Amarillo.  They made Amarillo their home where they raised  three children. Richard worked at Pantex as a work analyst for 44 years before retiring in 2004. He served in the National Guard and was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He enjoyed doing crafts from barbed wire.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, David Keene, a sister, Joyce Petty, a grandchild, Dillon Belcher, and two brothers in law, Lynn Stone Sr. and Ray Stone Jr.

Richard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Marilyn Keene; his children, Bryan Keene, Tammy Keene Belcher and husband Verlin and Kim Keene; a brother, Gerald Keene; a sister, Janice Robinson and husband, Carl; grandchildren, Marshall Belcher, Bethany Belcher and Morgan Egidy; brother in law, Richard Petty Sr.; sisters in law, Margarette Keene, Sue Stone and Margaret Bloodworth and husband D.A. and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

The family will receive family and friends on Thursday, September 29, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial  contributions to Randall County 4-H Memorial Fund care of Opportunity Plan Inc., 504 24th Street, Canyon, TX 79015 or the charity of the donors choice.
