Richard Bitela, 46, of Amarillo, Texas died Friday, November 29, 2013.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at 10 A.M. at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home at 1505 Martin Road.
Richard was born on March 12, 1967 in Amarillo to Martin Bitela, Jr and Loretta Vigil. He attended Palo Duro High School. He was employed as a general contractor. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He married Christina Ortega on June 12, 2013.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Bitela, Jr, November 1980 and by his brother, Tony Bitela on February 2013.
Survivors include his wife, Christina of Amarillo. Daughter, Jessica Walker of California. Son, Eric Chavez of Washington. Three stepchildren, Serena, Tiana and Jonathan Humphries, all of Amarillo. His mother, Loretta Vigil. Three sisters, Stephanie Gutierrez, Loretta Salazar and Blanca Guzman, all of Amarillo. Two brothers, Wilie Ray Higgins of Iuka, Michigan and Victor Duran of Amarillo. Two grandchildren from California and nieces and nephews of Amarillo.
