Steve Woods

Steve Woods, 72 of Amarillo passed from this life on Sunday, February 3, 2019. Family and friends will gather together at 10:00 am Saturday, February 9, 2019 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Pastor James Baker officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.

Reuben Stephen “Steve” Woods was born on October 29, 1946 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to J.R. and Lee (Brogdon) Woods. He graduated from Palo Duro High School and then he joined the United States Army serving in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1977. Steve married Sandra Kay Starr in 1988 here in Amarillo. He worked as a machinist at Amarillo Gear until his retirement. Steve will remembered as a good ole guy who enjoyed golfing, fishing, bowling and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Lee Woods and a brother in law, Ernie Davis.


Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Katie Woods, of the home; six sons, Don Woods and wife Vivian, of Pueblo, Colorado, Tim Starr and wife Nichole, of Amarillo, Texas, David Woods and wife Beth, of Pueblo, Colorado, Duane Woods and wife Aimee, of Grovetown, Georgia, Darrell Woods and wife Rebekah, of Pueblo, Colorado and Darrin Woods and wife Susan of Amarillo, Texas; two daughters, Vickie Hook and husband Rick, of Amarillo, Texas and Carla Holsey and husband, Brian, of Borger, Texas; three sisters, Lavonna Davis, of Amarillo, Texas, Cindy Bacus and husband, John, of Claude, Texas, and Beverly Sanders and husband, Bobby, of Amarillo, Texas; sister in law, Glenda Pulliam, of Amarillo, Texas; 30 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren; and a host of other loving family members and friends.
