Raul was born to Reynaldo and Virginia Melendrez on August 19, 1955 in Crystal City Texas where he attended Crystal City High School and graduated in May of 1975. Raul married Marcelina on March 22, 1975. Raul was employed by McCarty Hull in Amarillo and retired in 2007 after 35 years with the company. He was a loving grandfather, husband, father, son, and brother. His joy in life was playing games with his grandchildren, traveling, the outdoors, and was true blue to the star of the Dallas Cowboys. Raul was a hard worker who looked after his family and everyone else.
He is preceded in death by his mom, Virginia Melendrez and grandparents, Antonio Melendrez and husband Juan of Crystal City, Tx.
His Survivors include a loving wife of 37 years Marcelina Melendrez; Two sons,
Scott Melendrez and wife Roxanne of Amarillo, Tx and Raul Jr. Melendrez and wife Crystal also of Amarillo Tx; Two daughters, Dominga Henderson and husband Chad and Patricia Venavidez and husband Alviro all of Amarillo Tx; father, Reynaldo Melendrez of Lubbock Tx; brother, Rey Melendrez Jr. and wife Pat of Gould Ok; Three sisters, Andrea Stringer and Tonie Gallegos of Amarillo Tx and Rosa Zapata and husband Joe of San Antonio Tx; and fourteen grandchildren.
