Randel Don Riggs, 63, of Amarillo passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. No services are scheduled at this time.
Randel Riggs was born on April 8, 1961, to Don Riggs and Rosa Cummings in Amarillo, Texas. A proud graduate of Amarillo High School in 1979, Randel's life was marked by his boundless curiosity and unwavering work ethic. Over the years, he embraced a variety of careers and was a true "Jack of all trades." His talents spanned across leatherworking, culinary arts, and entrepreneurship. One of his proudest ventures was owning The Wooden Nickel, a beloved restaurant inside Happy State Bank, which he ran with his wife.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Randel was a passionate knife collector and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He treasured his role as a grandfather, finding immense joy in attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and cooking with his granddaughter. Randel’s deep love for his family extended to his two loyal dogs, Chen and Rowdy, who remained steadfast companions by his side until the end.
Above all, Randel was a devoted father, fiercely protective of his daughters and grandchildren, always putting family first. His legacy is one of love, hard work, and dedication, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Randel was preceded in death by his father, Don Riggs and his wife, Rhonda Riggs.
Survivors left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Randi Riggs and Brynn Rains and husband, Travis, his son, Matt Davis and his wife, De’Ann; his Mother, Rosa Riggs; his sister, Debbie Tiffany and husband, Tom; his grandchildren, Bret Davis, Caden Davis and Anabelle Riggs; his two dogs, Chen and Rowdy and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
