In Memory of Ralph Earl Jackson, Jr.
September 19, 1946-January 7, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph E. Jackson, Jr., who died in Amarillo, Texas on January 7, 2025. His legacy is one of dedication, love for his family and friends, and a lifetime of service to those around him.
Ralph was born in Phillips, Texas on September 19, 1946 to Ralph E. Jackson Sr. and Dorothy Margaret Jackson. He was a lifelong learner who deeply valued education, beginning in the Phillips Public School system, followed by becoming a dedicated music student at Frank Phillips College, earning an Associates in Business at West Texas State University, and by obtaining a nursing degree at Amarillo College.
After his education, he led a life of service through his work and volunteerism. He spent six years in the National Guard while working for TG&Y and Levi Strauss. He retired from Owen’s Corning of Amarillo. At the time of his passing, he was a member, Commander, and President of Amarillo Emergency Service (AES), a mission dear to him for over 30 years.
Amongst the long list of his awards and achievements, he was President of Kappa Kappa Psi Music Organization when at West Texas State University, a recipient of the Owens Corning National Volunteer of the Year Award, and honored with awards too numerous to list from AES over his long tenure there. His hobbies were many, including being a hot air balloon pilot who flew “Pipe Dream” and a constant enjoyment of all things musical.
Most importantly, he loved and was treasured by his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda Jackson; his son, Cody Jackson; his beloved grandchildren Simon Jackson and Olivia Jackson; his daughter-in-law, Felice Jackson; his sister, Brenda Butler and brother, Floyd Jackson; and many nieces, nephews, and other family. Ralph also leaves behind a multitude of friends, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him, served with him, and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Aaron Coyle Jackson.
Services for Ralph will be held at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw, 8310 S Coulter Street in Amarillo on Saturday, January 18th, 2025. There will be a visitation from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, a memorial service at 2:00 pm, and a police escort to his final resting place at Memory Gardens following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations and memorials go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
