Phillip Peter Petrakos was born in Dunkirk, New York on February 14, 1956 to George and Jean Petrakos. He married Vesna Lendvaj on July 8, 1988 in Silver Creek, NY. Phillip graduated from Silver Creek High School in Silver Creek, NY., and later graduated from Clarkson University and Clarkson College of Technology in Potsdam, NY., with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management and a B.S. in Engineering. He work for thirty years in process and materials handling equipment, project engineering, project management, fabrication, welding, machining, machine assembly and complete system integration. He was a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, Senior Member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, American Society for Quality (ASQ) ASQ Certified Quality Engineer; ASQ Certified Quality Auditor; Certified ISO-9000 Lead Auditor. Phillip worked for INX International Ink Co. and its CPS Subsidiary in Dunkirk, NY., from 1986-1996, when he move to Texas, and became General Manager of Ferrell-Ross Div. of A.T. Ferrell Co., Inc., Amarillo, Texas 1996-2003. He then became Executive Vice President, Ferrell-Ross Roll Manufacturing Inc., in Hereford, Tx. in 2003 until 2010.
Phillip enjoyed sailing, cooking and family get together after church on Sundays. He was active with church and men’s club. He was a dedicated Buffalo Bill’s football fan and Buffalo Sabers hockey team, Amarillo Rattlers and the Gorillas hockey teams. Mr. Petrakos was named by Chris Albracht as “The Pope of Hockey of Amarillo”. Mr. Petrakos was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include his wife, Vesna Petrakos of Canyon, TX, a son, Bob Petrakos of Canyon, TX, a sister, Mary Petrakos of Buffalo, NY, his father, George Petrakos, a sister-in-law and a brother-in-law, Marina and Terry Kuhs, and two nieces, Brianna & Nickolla Terranova of Buffalo, NY
