Phieu Nguon Tran, M.D. of Amarillo, died at the age of 84 on November 4, 2011.
Services will be as follows;
The Wake will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2011 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Funeral Service will be at 8:00 am on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel.
Phieu Nguon Tran, M.D. was born on March 20, 1927 in Gia Dinh Ba Kieu, Vietnam. He graduated from Medical School in 1958 at Sante Naval Ecole, Bordeaux France and served as Surgeon General of the 3 Armed Forces in Vietnam. He was the Minister of Health and Social Welfare in Vietnam. He immigrated to the United States in 1975 and practiced Medicine in Hale Center, TX and Amarillo for over 35 years. He served as President of Giac Hoa Temple and served as President of the Vietnamese Medical Association of the Free World of Texas, United States and World. Dr. Tran retired in 1992. He has also written numerous books.
Survivors include his wife, Van Tran; 2 daughters, Bich Phuong Marerar of Paris, France and LanChi Tran of Denver, Colorado; 4 grandchildren, Johana Nam Phuong Marerar and Ryan Minh Phuoc Marerar of Paris, France and CatThongTrace Ho-Tran and Cat Phuong Leilani Ho-Tran of Denver, CO.; and one sister, Ba Thi Tran of Vietnam.
