Pearl Hammons, 88, of Amarillo, passed from this life on Friday, July 5, 2019, surrounded by family. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Street.
Pearl was born March 16, 1931 in Panhandle, Texas to Cleo and Mabel Irene (Pullen) Allgire, she married Frank Hammons on June 4, 1948 and they were married for 55 years until his passing in 2003.
Pearl was a devoted wife and loving mother. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and camping. Pearl enjoyed the mountains so much and she and Frank often went camping in their R.V. together. For three summers in a row, they worked at Yellowstone National Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank David Hammons; a son, Larry Hammons; daughter-in-law, Margaret Hammons; a sister, Ila Burgon and a nephew, James Hardin.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Steve Hammons and wife Angie of Amarillo (formerly of Dumas); three grandsons, Nick Hammons and wife Amanda, Parker Hammons, Logan Hammons and Kendra Jenkins; two great grandsons, Michael and Carter Hammons; a sister, Sue Unfried and husband Lou, a granddaughter, Michelle Carroll of Dallas, Texas. She is also survived by great-grandchildren, Sarah and Mark Carroll.
