Paul C. Dodgen, 84, of Amarillo passed away on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011.
Mr. Dodgen's service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, October 10, 2011 in the LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel located at 8310 S. Coulter Road in Amarillo, TX. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mr. Dodgen was born Mar. 5, 1927, to George and Elta Mae Dodgen. He was born and raised in Shamrock, graduated from Shamrock High School and served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 1950, and worked for many years as an accountant. He married his wife, Ila Jean, in 1980 in Amarillo. Paul loved playing table tennis and competed in the Senior Olympics. He enjoyed fishing in the mountains, spending time with his family and was a big supporter of the Maverick Club.
He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Dodgen, in 1996 and his wife, Ila Jean Dodgen, in 2009.
His survivors include two sons, George Dodgen and Paul Dogen, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Kathleen Carnahan and husband Norman of Spring; a stepson, Allen Coleman of Albuquerque; a sister, Geraldine Carman of Saginaw; 15 grandchildren, Tana Garcia, Sara Worsham, Shayne Carnahan, Daniel Dodgen, Mark Dodgen, Matt Dodgen, Heath Dodgen, Jackie Dodgen, Dakota Dodgen, Tucker Dodgen, Adrielle Selke, Gabe Coleman, Raschael Ramsdell, Monica Romero and Dennis Romero.
The family suggests memorials to Maverick Boys and Girls Club of Amarillo, 1923 S. Lincoln St., Amarillo, TX 79109.
