Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday Oct. 4, 2012 at St. Stephen United Methodist Church with Dr. Stan Cosby and Sheldon DeVries officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Patty was born on Mar. 14, 1962 in St. Louis, MO to Art and Wilma Monroe. She had live in Amarillo since her Sophomore year in High school. She was very involved with Camp Fire Girls growing up and she received the WoHeLo Medallion in 1979, which is the highest honor given. Patty graduated from Amarillo High School in 1980 and married Alan Thomas on Nov. 28, 1987. She attended West Texas State University, Amarillo College and Panhandle State University. She later graduated from American Business School in 1988. Patty was a licensed Massage Therapist and she was very passionate about her profession. She had a servant’s heart and was very involved through the years in Children’s Ministry and as a volunteer in many areas at both St. Stephen United Methodist Church and also at Amarillo South Church.
Survivors include her husband Alan Thomas; two daughters, Ashlyn Shae Thomas and Tara Delaney Thomas; her parents, Art and Wilma Monroe of Amarillo; two sisters, Sherry Sously and husband Terry of Camdenton, MO and Pamela Moreland of Kansas City; two brothers, Gary Monroe and wife Karen of Duquion, IL and Dennis Monroe and wife Rachelle of Decatur, IL; her aunt Barbara Braun of Lake Wales, FL, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Fred and Althea Thomas of Amarillo and many other loving family members.
The family suggests memorials to the Children’s Center Project in care of St. Stephen United Methodist Church or Baptist St. Anthony’s Hospice
