Patsy Ruth Thomas

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 at Polk Street United Methodist Church, 1401 S. Polk St. in Amarillo with Reverend Kevin Deckard and Dr. Larry Payne officiating.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home, 8310 S. Coulter Road in Amarillo.
Patsy was born March 24, 1953 in Hereford to Harold and Alice Rudd. She moved to Amarillo in 1969 when she was 16 years old. Patsy graduated from Northwest Texas School of Nursing in 1974. Her nursing career began at Northwest Texas Hospital, where she worked for almost 22 years. In August 1995, she took a position as Director of Nursing and Clinical Services at Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic. She has worked at the highest level of nursing and nursing administration at Amarillo Diagnostic Clinic and the Pavillion at NWTH.
She married Bobby Thomas in 1981. She was an amazing mom as she poured out her unconditional love to her children Chad, Trace and Teri. Patsy was a unique individual who had a very contagious smile. She has provided everyone with the gift of friendship, love and support. Her positive outlook on life and the amazing strength she has shown has been an inspiration to many.
She is preceded in death by her father.
Survivors include her best friend and the father of her children, Bobby Thomas of Amarillo, son Trace Thomas of Austin, daughter Teri Payne and her husband Drew Payne parents of her two grandchildren Jocelyn and Madelyn Payne, and son Chad Thomas of Dallas, her mother Alice Rudd of Hereford, two sisters Cherle Willingham and husband Steve, Lynn Bell and husband Buddy, a brother Kit Rudd, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions can be made to Patsy Thomas Nursing Scholarship Fund through the Amarillo College Foundation.
