Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Friday February 17, 2017 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home Coulter Road Chapel. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
On February 13, 2017 Ovel Joe “Blackie” Mendoza went on his final ride to Heaven. He was born April 17, 1948 in Candeleria to Benito and Guadalupe Mendoza. Blackie had a deep love for his family, friends, music and motorcycles. He often entertained everyone by playing his guitar and singing from the heart. No matter what he was always the life of the party. His friends and family can be comforted knowing he has regained his strength and is riding and singing with the angels. Blackie will forever be a legend to all who knew and loved him.
Blackie is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Isiais, Manuel and Joel and friends, Freddie Martinez and Dalgo.
Blackie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Mendoza; sons, Bennie Mendoza and Veronica and Joey Mendoza and wife Carrie; daughters, Iris Mendoza and Tricia Mendoza and Deshawn; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; 7 brothers and sisters; best friends, Montez and Romero and so many others that he loved.
