Orlando T. Vigil, 61 of Amarillo departed this life on Friday, December 16, 2016. Celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, December 19, 2016 at Power Church, 1016 S. Roberts, with Pastor Manny DeLosSantos officiating. Burial will follow in Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 Coulter Road.
Orlando was born on June 14, 1955 to Ernesto and Ceverina Vigil in Amarillo. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1973 and married Dorcas DeLosSantos on October 12, 1974. Orlando attended Amarillo College to study theology. He, along with his wife, pastored at Fuente de Vida in Canyon from 1993-1996. Orlando also was employed at Asarco for 21 years and FedEx for 16 years. He was an amazing husband and great father who loved to BBQ and will always be remembered for his true servant’s heart.
He was preceded in death his parents; a brother, Ruben Vigil and a sister, Carmela Vigil.
Survivors include his wife Dorcas; 6 children, Tonja King, Orlando Josue Vigil, Lydia Vigil, Esteban Vigil and fiancée Cinthya Calderon, Heidi Lara, and Tabitha Palacios and husband J.C.; a brother, Roberto Vigil and wife Cheryl; sisters, Ernestina Renteria and husband Albert and Rene Vigil and 17 grandchildren, Trent, Tayte, Jocelyn, Tomas, Juliana, Josiah, Victoria, Andres, Rebekah, Melayna, Christian, Majesty, Abdiel, Malia, Miley, Ezra, and Elijah.
In lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made to the building fund at Power Church.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Sunday, December 18, 2016 at Power Church, 1016 S. Roberts.
