Opal Warren Bowerman, long time resident of Amarillo passed away Tuesday July 27 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Opal cooked for many years in various restaurants in and around Amarillo. Her first love was her family; she loved them more than words can say. She loved all kinds of crafts and crocheted many beautiful afghans through the years. She was an avid reader and loved her books until she could no longer see to read them. Her greatest achievement in life, according to her, was a family history book she wrote and had published several years ago. She moved to Idaho in 1995 and resided in Idaho Falls until 2000 when she moved to Twin Falls to live with her son. She was a member of the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Idaho Falls where she has a loving and strong church family. She had been in assisted living since January of this year. Opal was born in Fort Worth, Texas, February 16, 1916 to Noah and Annie Warren. She married Doyle Bowerman August 30, 1933. She and Doyle worked together in the floor covering business for several years. She was one of eleven children.
Opal is survived by a sister, Geneva Holt of Corinth, MS Three sons, David Bowerman and wife Pam, Tom Bowerman and wife Debbie both of Amarillo, Richard Bowerman and wife Rowena of Twin Falls, Idaho, and one daughter, Joyce Butler of Amarillo. 12 grand children, 20 great grand children, and 4 great great grand children.
