Norman Durwayne Steen

Norman Durwayne “Wayne” Steen, 76, of Amarillo passed from this life on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in Llano Cemetery.

Wayne was born on December 10, 1941 in Brownfield, TX to Norman and Pauline Steen. Wayne married Susan Vinyard on August 1, 1960 and they were married for fifty eight years. Wayne owned and operated Steen Construction for over fifty years. He was a carpenter. He could not wait to go to work where he absolutely loved his job. In the words of his favorite actor, he did not want to be “Burning Daylight”. Wayne loved his family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda Silvertooth.

He is survived by his wife, Susan, two sons, Richard Steen and wife Toni and Michael Steen and wife Sheri; five grandchildren, Brayden, Braxton, Jessica, Chaz and Stormie; five great grandchildren, Jerry, Jayden, Jace, Avery and Chamber; and his sister, Melba Knowles and his brother, David Steen.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the High Plains Childrens Home or a favorite charity of your choice.
