Norbert “Tod” Christopher Ballauer, 90, of Amarillo, Texas passed away peacefully at Ussery-Roan Texas State Veteran’s Home in Amarillo Sunday, August 16, 2020. He was born on November 19, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to Peter Ballauer and Marie Allen Burke. He was married on July 16, 1966 in Lawton, Oklahoma to the love of his life, Judy Ballauer. They were married for just over 54 years. He proudly served his county in the US Army for 23 ½ years and was able to see the world while doing so. While in the Army he visited Germany, Japan, England, France, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, Ireland, and Alaska to name a few. He served 2 tours in the Korean War and 1 tour in the Vietnam War. He received the Bronze Star for distinguished duty as well as multiple Army commendation awards. He retired as Sergeant First Class. He also retired from Maywood of Amarillo after 15 years following his military service. His hobbies were reading, woodworking, computers and telling jokes to friends and family. He had an amazing work ethic and was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ballauer, his parents, and all of his brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his two sons, Alan Ballauer and wife Nella of Amarillo, Texas and Scott Ballauer and wife Kathy of The Colony, Texas; his grandchildren, Cassie Payton and husband Bear of Moore, Oklahoma; Leslie Ballauer of Branson, MO and Stephen Austin of and wife Courtney of Amarillo, Texas and six great-grandchildren.
