Jeanne Barney Delfs, 90 of Amarillo died on Monday, October 27, 2014. Celebration of Jeanne's life will be at 10:00 am, Friday, October 31, 2014 at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howard Batson officiating. lntombment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.

Jeanne was born on May 24, 1924 to John and Roxanne McAndrews in Uniontown, PA. Jeanne graduated from Georges Township High School in 1942 and attended Franklin Commercial College in Connellsville, PA. Jeanne began her life long career in banking in 1940 at the Uniontown Savings and Loan. Jeanne married Charles Barney on May 4, 1946 in Allentown, PA. They lived and prospered in Uniontown and Pt. Pleasant, W. VA. during their time together. They enjoyed many of life's most treasured moments, the thrill of becoming parents to becoming successful business people in their community until the time of his death in February, 1971. Jeanne flourished in the financial world. She began at the People's Bank of Pt. Pleasant at the time of it's inception as one of its original employees in the early 1960's. Her career prospered as she expanded and managed many banking roles and departments throughout the years. Jeanne retired after 29 years of service as Senior Vice-President of the People's Bank of Pt. Pleasant in 1989.

Jeanne enjoyed retirement as she relocated to be close to her family in Amarillo. Jeanne found her Christian family at First Baptist Church of Amarillo. She met her best friend and husband, John "Jack" Delfs while attending FBC and volunteering her time to the Auxiliary of BSA Health System. Dr. Howard Batson married Jeanne and Jack Delfs on April 8, 1995. Though they were only married a few short years before the Lord called him home, they had many memorable moments and the romance of a lifetime. Jeanne volunteered faithfully and with much love in the gift shop of BSA Health System from 1991 to 2010 with a total of 23, 192 hours. Jeanne felt that her friends at BSA were her second family. Jeanne held the position of President of the BSA Auxiliary from 1998-2000.

Jeanne was proceeded in death by her parents, husband Charles Barney of Pt. Pleasant, W. VA. and husband, John "Jack" Delfs of Amarillo.

She is survived by a son John "Buck" Barney and wife Carol of Amarillo; a son James Barney and wife Janet of Roanoke, VA.; a step son Dr. John Delfs and wife Nanette Bourne of White Plains, NY.; a step daughter Diana Delfs Cavin of Escondido, CA. and a very special daughter and friend, Linda Gentner.

Jeanne's greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren, Beth Langwell, Charlie Barney and Dana Cavin, all of Amarillo, Maxwell Barney and Samantha Barney of Roanoke, VA., Michael Delfs of London, England, Brianna Delfs of Paris, France, Benjamin Delfs of Yonago, Japan, Justin Bourne Stuart of Tarrytown, NY. and Rev. Robert Cavin of Basking Ridge, NJ. and her five very special great grandchildren, Weston, Devon, Payton, Nolan and her only great granddaughter Ava.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 in memory of Jeanne Barney Delfs.

The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 - 7:00 pm, Thursday, October 30, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
