Nina Ruth Owen, age 90, of Amarillo passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014. Memorial services will be Monday, March 3, 2014 at 10:00 am at Hillside Christian Church Chapel with Mike Nuthman officiating. Interment services will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm at Greenwood Cemetery in Ft. Worth.
Nina was born May 7, 1923 to Seth and Lena (Turner) Wampler in Vinyard, Texas. She grew up in Vinyard on the farm her family homesteaded. She graduated from Jacksboro High School and went on to marry the love of her life Jerry Owen in Weatherford in 1942. He preceded her in death in 1984 as did a grandson Chris Owen in 2002. Nina loved cooking for her family, playing bridge and the piano and was very active into her later years even mowing her own lawn until she as 81.
Survivors include two sons Michael and wife Jenni Owen of Oklahoma City, Ok and Art and Laura Owen of Amarillo as well as a step grandson Matt Lindsley of Amarillo.
