Nelda Joy Kirk, 77, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, October 31, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Rad Chapel with Pastor Dennis Richardson of First Assembly of God, Stinnett, Texas, officiating. Burial will follow at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S Coulter St., Amarillo, Texas.
Nelda was born on October 20, 1939 in Durant, Oklahoma to William D. and Nellie P. Tucker. She grew up in Hammon, Oklahoma where she graduated from Hammon High School. After high school she started working as a rental sales associate for Avis Car Rentals. In 1975 she bought the franchise, where she owned and operated the rental agency until her retirement in 2001. She was a professional business woman where she was a member of ABWA where she received their woman of the year award, and the Pilot Club. She served on the board for Don Herrington Cancer Center. Nelda will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bobby Joe Tucker, JD Tucker and Sidney Tucker and her grandson, Jeremy Karl Green.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah J. Dodgen; a son, Dennis Kirk and wife, Lisa; her sisters, Mary Pearl Henderson and husband, DF and Karen Lee Ogletree and husband, Tommy; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Viewing will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.
