Myrtle Jane McKinney, 89, of Amarillo passed from this life on Friday, August 3, 2018. Family and Friends Will gather to celebrate her life on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:00 am in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Road.
Myrtle was born on July 30, 1929 in Dalhart, Texas to George and Edna Folks. As a young girl, she traveled with her family as sharecroppers before returning to Texas. She married Ray McKinney on October 14, 1963 in Amarillo. She was a Jane of all trades where she worked several different jobs. She loved her dogs and cats. Myrtle enjoyed anything exciting, she loved to ride motorcycles, watching nascar, with Jeff Gordon being her favorite driver, she would go to the races and motorcycle rallies. She lived her life the way she wanted. All who knew and loved her will miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ray McKinney, son, George Redd, grandson, Don Ray Dorsett , four brothers and four sisters, and longtime friend, John Wellborn.
She is survived by her children, Gene Redd, Mary Ellen Evers, Robert Scott, Judy McKinney and Debbie Dorsett; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Amarillo S.P.C.A.
Family will receive guests on Monday, August 6, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
