Myrtie Mae Chisum Hamblen, 98, of Amarillo, passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 in Amarillo. She was born on September 29, 1923 in Snyder, Texas to the late Lawrence Campbell and Cora Mae Crabtree Campbell. Myrtie was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ, was active in Senior Citizens events and enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by two daughters, Winona Kay Colson and husband Sam of Amarillo and Vanessa Gail Swindell and husband Jackie of Corinth; son, Ronald Clinton Chisum and wife Rebecca of Amarillo; step-son, Milton Ford of Georgia; grandchildren, Cassie Gregg, Angie Thornton, Justin Swindell, Clint Swindell, Ryan Chisum and Marlee Kennedy; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; several other step-grandchildren and step- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husbands, R.C. Chisum and Lloyd Hamblen, six brothers and one sister and three step-sons, Rual, Cecil and Bobby Chisum.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Home, 8310 S. Coulter, Amarillo, TX 79119. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dean Whaley officiating. A graveside committal service will be 2:30 PM Wednesday at Roberts County Cemetery, Miami, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to High Plains Children’s Home in Amarillo or a charity of your choice.
