Murl "Granny" Horn

Murl "Granny" Horn, age 80, of Amarillo passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Friday, October 18th at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors.

Murl was born on August 19, 1933 to Hubert and Thelma Smith in Farmersville, Texas. Murl married Marlow Horn on July 4th, 1952. Murl kept children for over 30 years and everyone knew and called her "Granny" Horn. Even the kids that she kept that were not her family called her "Granny" Horn.
She loved her family and looked forward to the holidays and family cookouts. She always wanted everybody there. Granny loved flowers and her yard. She was always buying flowers when she went to the store and having Ronnie plant them when she got home. Granny loved sitting on the her patio with her dog "Rosie" and sharing ice cream with her. She also loved country music, but most of all, Granny was a great mom and grandmother to her family.

Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Marlow and a brother Marcus.

Survivors include her three daughters; Debbie Oliver and husband Johnny of Plainview, Sharon Secrist and husband Ed and Karen Moore and husband Rory, both of Amarillo; two sons; Donnie Horn and Ronnie Horn and wife Diana both of Amarillo. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
