Mozelle Woodman 93, of Amarillo died on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. Memorial service will be 3:00 p.m., Friday, September 18, 2015 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw, 8310 S Coulter Road.
Mozelle was born on June 25, 1922 in Headrick, Oklahoma to Ulman and Madge Clinkscales. She married Jake Woodman on August 9, 1941 in Altus, Oklahoma. As a child Mozelle was baptized in the Red River on the Oklahoma/Texas Line. She was the middle daughter, but had the responsibility of taking care of her siblings and cooked all the meals. She supported her husband, Jake, in Woodman’s Trim Shop & Supply and Midas Muffler Shops. She was known for hosting family reunions and Christmas parties for friends and family. She enjoyed their place at Greenbelt Lake but was afraid of the water and never learned to swim. Mozelle was very active in various organizations: Bodacious Babes Red Hat Society, Daughters of the Nile, Reddy Squares Square Dance Club, WPS and Lamplighters Sunday School Class at Hillside Christian Church. Mozelle loved to travel including cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska. She enjoyed gambling where she played Wheel of Fortune and video poker. She also took her 3 youngest grandkids to Vegas for their 21st birthdays.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jake Woodman, son Jerry Woodman, sister Tommie Beals, brother Rodney Clickscales and son in law Joe Merrill.
She is survived by sons, Dr. William Woodman and wife, Toni, of Ames, Iowa, Jimmy Woodman and wife, Nancy; daughter, Brenda Merrill, all of Amarillo; grandchildren, Catherine Woodman, Dr. Geoffrey Woodman and his wife, Ashleigh, Dillon Woodman and his wife, Kristen, Brandon Merrill and his wife Gwen, Erin Merrill, Caitlin Woodman; great grandchildren, Lila, Sam, Hunter, Paige, Henry, Seth, Keaton and Madison.
The family suggests memorials to Circle of Friends at 500 S. Taylor, suite 603, unit 223, Amarillo, TX 79101.
The family would like to thank Brookdale Medi Park West, Accolade Home Care, Hospice Care of the Southwest, and Childer’s Place for taking such good care of Mozelle, and for loving her.
