Mona Roberts, 63 of Amarillo died on Friday, September 4, 2015. Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Church at Quail Creek with Rev. Kyle Clayton, pastor and Rev. Dale Moreland, associate pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Mona was born on October 2, 1951 in Groom, Texas to Jerry and Lillie Carney. She moved with her family to Amarillo when she was 4 years old. Mona graduated form Amarillo High School. She married Everett Roberts on December 19, 1975 and the moved to Altus, Oklahoma. Mona worked as a realtor in Altus for 30 years. After retiring she and her husband moved back to Amarillo. She enjoyed fishing, camping and going on vacations. Mona was a great cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Joseph "Joey" Wayne Roberts.
She is survived by her husband, Everett; grandchildren, Tristyn Roberts, Kalyn Thornburg, Kaleb Thornburg; great grandson, Joseph Wayne Saavedra; brothers, Jerry Carney, Jr., and his wife, Lynn, Billy Carney and his wife, Regina; sisters, Diana Wieck and her husband, Arnie, Margie Carney, and Brenda Budd and her husband, Cliff; daughter in law, Julie DuBois; 14 nieces and nephews,22 great nieces and great nephews and a host of loving friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel.
