Mildred "Granny" Hawley, 97, of Amarillo passed Friday, May 6, 2011, in Silverton, TX.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with John Wakabi officiating. Private Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery in Quitaque. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter St. Amarillo, TX.
Mildred was born Sept. 22, 1913, in Briscoe County to Louis and Jennie Pointer. Her life spanned almost a century, from the horse and buggy days to the era of men on the moon. She married William Hawley on Jan. 16, 1933, in Hollis, Okla. Together they had two sons, John and Neal; and a daughter, Billie. She worked as a security guard for Network Security for 20 years. She was a member of the Assembly of God. She was a very giving person. She also loved to tell stories and enjoyed crocheting. She loved her favorite nephew, Henry.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie Lynn Pettigo and Louis Virgil Pointer; her husband, William Hawley; and sons, John Louis Hawley and Neal Edward Hawley.
Survivors include a daughter, Billie Allen of Silverton; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and other loving relatives.
