Maxine Ruby Harris

November 4, 1921 — April 9, 2012

Her celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2012 at Lighthouse Church located at 4020 SW. 50th St. with Pastor Bobby Bradshaw officiating.

Her visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday, April 12, 2012 at LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Chapel.

Maxine was born on November 4, 1921 in Amarillo to Walton and Mary Jackson.  She attended schools in Amarillo where she graduated from Amarillo High School.  Maxine married Roy Lee Harris on September 28, 1940.  She worked at the Amarillo Veteran’s Hospital in the cafeteria until her retirement in 1978.  She is fondly remembered as the loving caregiver of the family.  She loved to cook for her family, preparing Sunday meals weekly.  Maxine was a devoted member of her church, Lighthouse Church of Amarillo.  She enjoyed gardening and needlepoint embroidery as she was able.

She is preceeded by her parents; husband Roy Lee Harris in 1978; son, Danny Harris; brothers, Kenneth and Bud Jackson and sisters, Madelyn Casey, Roberta Salmon and Mary Edwards.

She is survived by her daughter, Aundera Eason and husband Don; sons, Roy Lynn Harris and wife Beverly and Sidney Harris and wife Sharron; daughter-in-law, Lanell Harris; brother, Tom Jackson and wife Charlene; 2 sister-in-laws, Ophelia Harris and Velma Harris all of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren, Terrrell Thrasher and wife Lisa, Anica Thrasher, Darren Eason, Donny King and wife DeeDee, Marcus Harris, Melanie King, Scott Harris and wife Rebecca, Brandon Harris and wife Brandy and Lisa Johnson and husband Blue; 15 great grandchildren and 3
great-great grandchildren.

The family suggest memorial contributions be made to Lighthouse Church of Amarillo; P.O. Box 8587, Amarillo, TX 79114.
