Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Alan Abraham officiating. Burial will be in Memory Lawn Cemetery in Roswell, N.M. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.
Mr. Callaway was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Perryton to
Charley Watley Callaway and Laura Alice Records Callaway. He graduated from Canadian High School in 1940 and proudly served our country in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. Max married Leota “Lee” Irwin on Sept. 4, 1947, in Clovis, N.M.
He owned Modern Lumber Co. for many years in Roswell. He had been a resident of Amarillo since 2007 and was instrumental in founding the Max’s Three-Wheelers bicycle club at Country Estates, where he resided. He loved music and singing and was a huge genealogy buff. Mr.
Callaway was a loving and devoted Christian husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Lee; three daughters, Pamela Callaway Adams and husband Kenneth of Ramah, N.M.; Cheryl Blount and husband Johnnie of Artesia, N.M., and Susan Routon and husband Clint of Fritch; two brothers, C.W. “Dub” Callaway of Vallejo, Calif., and Dallas
Callaway and wife Willa Dean of Granbury; a sister-in-law, Ina Chandler and husband Sammy of Clovis; five grandchildren; four great-
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
