Mary “Maggline” Morris, 84 of Amarillo, Texas passed away on February 27, 2017.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, March 11, 2017 in LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Martin Road Chapel with Reverend Joe Cofer of New Birth Bible Fellowship officiating. Private burial will be at Llano Cemetery, Amarillo, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by LaGrone Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.

Mary Maggline was born in Fulbright, Texas on 09-10-1932, to the late Buster and Margie Anna Brooks.  She married Frank Morris Jr in Clovis, New Mexico; they were married 59 years before Frank preceded her in death on June 8, 2013. To her family, friends and the people she worked with, she was better known as “Maggline” or just plain “Auntie." Maggline worked as a nursing assistant for a number of doctors in the Amarillo area and retired from Dr. Lacey’s office in 1998.

She was a born again Christian serving as a member of St. John Baptist Church for many decades where she enjoyed her Sunday School class and working with the missionary society. Maggline enjoyed all types of music, her gospel programs on TV, as well as Wheel of Fortune and the Price is Right; dominoes with her family, Bingo, going to the casinos with her nieces, Linda and Toni and nephew-in-law Alphonso, good food and traveling. After her retirement, Maggline was a caregiver outside the home for a number of years until her husband’s health began to fail.

She was preceded in death by Frank, her husband; her brother, Jessie Lee (Big 6), three sisters, Lilly Mae, Lorene and Margie Ree.

Maggline is survived by a foster son, Jimmie R. Davis of Borger; nephews and nieces, Dempsey L. Davis, Eva Jean Burleson, Linda Vaughn and husband Alphonso, all of Amarillo, Toni Champion and husband Michael of Denver, Meta Scott of Liberal, Kansas, Jimmie L. Alexander of College Park, Georgia, Joe Howard, Ernest Morris, Ocie Thomas, all of Amarillo, Ophelia Cumby and Doris Swain of Inglewood, California, Benny Pressley of Houston, Tx, Lynn Wright of Orlando, Florida, Ruth Madkins of Dallas, Texas; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Kindred Hospice, 3232 Hobbs Road, Amarillo, Texas 79109.

The family of Mary Maggline Morris wishes to thank all the nurses, social workers and aides from Kindred Hospice for the excellent care they gave to our aunt.
