Mary Perez Morales, 81, of Amarillo died on Monday, February 22, 2016. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Primera Iglesia Bautusta Jerusalem with Pastor Hiram Reyes officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.
Mary was born on April 5, 1934 to Joe and Geneva Perez in Edcouch, TX. She married the love of her life, Martin Morales on November 28, 1955 in Brownfield. Mary worked as the housekeeping manager for the Roadway Inn before going to work at Mesa Petroleum until retiring. She loved to praise the Lord and helping people in any way she could. Mary loved to go on walks and loved to sing. Her love of singing led her to leading the choritos at her church. Mary also taught Sunday school for many years and was also the church secretary. She dedicated her life to her church. Mary taught herself to speak and write perfect English. She was a great cook known for her enchiladas and tamales and she passed down her love of cooking to her daughter in laws. Family was everything to her and taking care of them brought no greater joy to her and she will be dearly missed by all of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Martin and four brothers.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Morales and wife Peggy, Martin Morales Jr. and wife Beverly and Robert Morales, all of Amarillo; a step daughter Cathy Villaneva and husband Fred of West Columbia, TX; nine grandchildren, Daniel Morales Jr., Jaime Morales Sharp, Leticia Morales Mayer, Michael Morales, Joseph Morales, Robert Morales, Christopher Escobar Ramirez, Celia Escobar and Ray Escobar; 20 great grandchildren; three sisters; one brother and numerous extended family members.
The family will be receiving friends from 6:30 - 8:30 pm, Friday, February 26, 2016 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road.
