Mary Johnnette Weeks Clement, 77, of amarillo died on Friday, December 4, 2015. Graveside services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon.  Memorial services will follow at 11:00 am at First Baptist Church in Canyon with Tracy Byrd officiating. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter.
Mary Johnnette Weeks Clement was born November 4, 1938, in Canyon Tx, the youngest of five children,  to her biological parents, Howard and Johnnie Griffith and her adopted parents, Ed C. and Mary B. Weeks.  Her biological parents passed away at an early age.

Mrs. Clement was a graduate of Canyon High School and West Texas State University where she received a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1959.   She was a member of WT Physical Education Majors Club and Gamma Theta Upsilon, National Geographic Society.   She taught school at Quanah, Amarillo, Umbarger, Tulia, and Canyon.  She was employed by Texas Department of Human Services in Amarillo and Canyon, retiring from Missouri Division of Family Services/Children's Protective Services Division in 2000 and Scholastic Book Clubs Service Center, Neosho MO.

She was a life-time member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority where she was charter member of three different sorority chapters in Canyon.  She was past member of Neosho MO Preception Mu Chapter, where she served as President and was awarded "The Order of the Rose," Silver Circle, and was honored as Girl of the Year two times and served the chapter as their Valentine Queen. Having been nominated as Outstanding Young Women of America while member of Canyon chapter.   She was also a past member of Canyon Jaycee-Ettes, Canyon Eagle Booster Club, Texas Classroom Teacher's Association, NEA, and AAHPER.  She was active in founding the local chapter of Red Hat Society., “Magnificent Matriarchs,” and served the chapter as "Queen Mother."   She was a member of First Baptist Church, Canyon, WTAMU Alumni Association and WTAMU Buffalo Club and loved working on the class reunions for CHS Class of 1956 and with Randall County Historical Committee.

Mrs. Clement married Elmer Clement August14, 1960, in Canyon, Texas.  They resided in Canyon before moving to Joplin, MO in 1989, returning to Canyon in 2000 upon retirement, moving to Amarillo in 2004.  She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009, biological parents, Howard and Johnnie Griffith,  adoptive parents,  Ed C. and Mary B. Weeks,  her sister, Joan Johnson,  and two brothers, Kenneth and Don Griffith.  Surviving include  two sons, Eddie Clement and wife  Princess of Canyon, and Ted Clement  of Amarillo, one daughter, Leigh Brooks and husband Keith of Canyon;  three grandsons, Joe Whipple and Fiance’ Tayler Haynes of Houston, Justin Clement of Enterprise, AL, and Lowry Baggett and Fiance’ Olivia White of Amarillo; three granddaughters, Bailey Tiffany and husband Logan, Jessica Madrid and husband Orlando all of Amarillo and Jennifer Williams and husband Shane of Pampa; one brother, Billy Mayfield and wife Marie of Amarillo, six great grandchildren and one on the way and several nieces and nephews.

She is going to be greatly missed by all who loved her.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 6-7:30 pm Monday, December 7, 2015.
