Mary was born on February 2, 1950 in Dalhart to Earl Carl and Gladys Collier.  She was raised in Clayton, NM with her 3 siblings.  She married Allen Wesley Eckert on September 28, 1974 in San Antonio.  He was an exceptionally large man and she was exceptionally small in stature so he jokingly teased her about placing her in his pocket. They enjoyed the company of one another for over ten years.  Mary was strong-willed and perseverant by nature, overcoming many obstacles in life.  Her family remembers her most for her love and acceptance of everyone she came in contact with, whether family or not. She was employed with Goodwill where she worked tirelessly to care for her children and grandchildren.  She beamed with pride at their accomplishments as well as occasional shortcomings.  Mary was very organized and punctuality was a must.  She leaves behind many memories and lessons for her family to cherish.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Allen Wesley Eckert in 1985.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Johnny Carl Eckert and wife Elizabeth; 2 daughters, Charlin Renee Anderson and Bobbye Bastes and husband Jeremy; 2 sisters, Nellie Collier and Ann Terbush and husband Gerald; brother, Carl Collier; 7 grandchildren, Jessica Anderson, Jalyssa Borchardt and husband Max, Shance Siegeler, Brennon Eckert, Taylor Chapman, Karlie Eckert and Mary Ann Eckert; great-granddaughter, Autumn Renee Borchardt and one grandchild on the way.
