Mary was born on March 30, 1924 in Armithwaite, TN to Joe and Effie Patton. She moved with her family from Tennessee to Gruver, TX before moving to the Dalhart area. Mary loved being a rancher’s wife, she enjoyed cooking for the harvest and branding crews and also helping with harvest. She loved to be with her family especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mary loved to sew and crochet. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi and First Christian Church of Dalhart.
Survivors include: her son, W.R. Patterson, Jr. of Amarillo; her daughter, Pat Wilson of Dalhart; her sister, Bertha Johnson of Amarillo; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by: her mother, Effie Amner Thompkins; father, Joe S. Patton; 1st husband, W.R. Patterson; granddaughter, Marlo Patterson; 2nd husband, Doris Clifford Branum; son, Joe Martin Patterson; 5 brothers and 7 sisters.
