Martin R. Hernández, 52, of Amarillo, passed from this life on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm on Monday, July 16, 2018 in LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father José Gomez as Celebrant. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery East. Arrangements are under the personal care of LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 1505 Martin Road.

Martin was born on January 12, 1966 in Plainview, Texas to Jose and Esperanza Hernández. He grew up in Amarillo where he attended school. He worked as a correctional officer at the Clements Unit for 20 years. Martin loved music and would DJ for family events, he enjoyed fishing, playing pool and riding his Harley Davidson. Martin enjoyed spending time with his family and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents Jose and Esperanza Hernández, his daughter Marianna Hernández., and a brother Clemente Hernández.

Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Jose A. Hernández; step daughter, Charolette Cavazos; two grandchildren that he raised, Matias Hernández and Marcelino Caudillo and 11 other grandchildren;
6 sisters, Juanita Garcia, Rosa Pope and husband Robert, Esperanza Alegria and husband Tomás, Lupe Reynoso and husband Elpidio, Maria Celaya and husband Gerardo and Josefina Hernández; 4 brothers, Xavier Hernández, George Hernández and wife Beatriz, Jesse Hernández and wife Beatrice and Jimmy Hernández and wife Dolores; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
