Marlena was born on November 6, 1969 in Chicago, Illinois to Modesto and Aida Inostroza. She graduated from Palo Duro high school in 1989. Marlena worked for Woodforest National Bank in Amarillo as a retail banker for 9 years. She was an avid baseball fan and was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church.
Survivors include: her mother, Aida Luz Soto; a daughter, Isabella Garcia; two sisters, Aida Inostroza and Manuela Yolanda-Soto; three brothers, Juan Soto, Jr., Victor Hugo-Soto and Jose Antonio-Soto; three nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her step-father, Juan Soto.
