Marjorie was born in Roswell, N.M., to Horace and Claudia Gaither of Belen, N.M. She came to live in Amarillo when Horace was appointed chief of police. The Gaithers had two sons: Paul, who became a Potter County sheriff, and "Pug."
Marge had a loving relationship with Paul's children, Barbara, Jerry and Dick.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ed Mims, who died in World War II; and her second husband, J.N. Hudson, to whom she was married for 44 years. By 1953, they had two daughters, Jan and Jere.
The family lived in many locations as J.N. served in the U.S. Navy on submarines and Marge worked as a payroll officer in the Civil Service until retirement.
Marge and J.N. retired to their beloved Amarillo in 1979 living at Lake Tanglewood. Marge loved bridge, gardening, her friends from childhood and new, her dogs and traveling to see her girls.
The family also wishes to thank and acknowledge the fine and loving care from medical personnel Marge received in her retirement years and especially during these last months.
She will be missed by her daughter, Jan; a son-in-law, Russ; and a granddaughter, Kerri, who proudly continues the family tradition in law enforcement. She will be missed by her daughter, Jere; a son-in-law, Allen; and granddaughters Abby and Rian and husband Kevin. She leaves behind a wonderful friend and longtime caregiver, Regina Craig.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity.
