Marjorie Callstrom

March 14, 1917 — July 6, 2012

Marjorie Callstrom, 95, of Amarillo died Friday, July 6, 2012.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, in Adrian Baptist Church in Adrian with the Rev. Bob Miller of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Vega Cemetery in Vega. Arrangements are by LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors, Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St.
Marjorie was born March 4, 1917, in Moffitt, Colo., to Jacob and Anna Bell Haun. She was raised and educated on the family farm in Spearman. Marjorie was a straight-forward woman who loved everyone. She was a hard worker and at one time worked at a fish cannery in California. She married Kenneth Callstrom, and they built a motel and a truck stop in Adrian that they operated for 42 years.
Marjorie liked going to the horse races. She was very athletic, and she played basketball for Spearman High School. She was very proud she knew every president of the U.S. by name.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth Marvin Callstrom; her husband; a son, Nathan Melton; and a grandson, Jeff Gurski.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Gurski of Adrian; a son, Billy Melton and wife Casey of Adrian; two sisters, Melva Nichols of Conway, Ark., and Mary Shumann of Spearman; 16 grandchildren; and numerous great-
grandchildren.
