Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 2:00pm at St. Laurence Catholic Church, 2300 N. Spring St, with Father Jim Schmitmeyer as celebrant. Arrangements are by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, Martin Road.
Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery
Holy Rosary will be said at the Martin Road funeral home, 1505 Martin Rd, at 7:00pm Wednesday.
Lydia H. Lichtie-Satterwhite was born March 23, 1935 in Stamford to Manuel and Paula Herrera. She graduated from Dumas High School in 1953 and attended Draughon’s Business College. She worked for New York Life Insurance Company in Amarillo before she married Edward James Lichtie June 7, 1958. 17 years after his passing she married Gib Satterwhite on August 2, 2014. Lydia was a member of St. Laurence Catholic Church for over 50 years and was very active in the church, serving the collections ministry and as Altar Society treasurer. She enjoyed Friday evenings with the church’s “Spring Chickens” group. Lydia loved camping in the mountains and all activities that involved her kids and grandkids. She also loved watching her beloved Green Bay Packers, San Antonio Spurs, and recently, became a fan of the Baltimore Ravens. She was a great example of faith, love, forgiveness and strength. A beautiful Mom and “Gma”, devoted to praying the Rosary for the intentions of family and friends. Lydia will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her.
Lydia is survived by her husband, Gib Satterwhite, five sons, Terry Lichtie and wife Renee, Raymond Lichtie, Joe Lichtie and wife Heather, John Lichtie and wife Kendra, and Carlos Lichtie and wife Jamie, three daughters, Rose Gillmore and husband Phil, Lisa Dockins and husband Daynner and Barbara Slusher and husband Rodger, three brothers, Joe , Edward and Robert Herrera, five sisters, Ophelia Horich, Lupe Dominguez, Veda Gonzales, Ana Martinez and Lisa Fajardo, 32 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several step-children.
Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Edward James Lichtie and three infant siblings, Gilbert, Bertha and Johnny Herrera.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to their favorite charity.
