Manorath Mark Makkhavane, 77, of Amarillo passed away Monday, March 28, 2022 in Amarillo. He was born on October 9, 1944 in Vientiane, Laos to Khoth and Khamphanh Sananikone.
Mr. Makkhavane served in the U.S. Secret Army Special Forces and the Vietnam War (Major 0-4). He received the following awards: Army Good Conduct, Vietnam Presidential Unit, Vietnam Campaign, Republic of Vietnam Service, Award the Honorably Service and National Defense.
He retired as a Minister at Northridge Church of Christ of Amarillo
He loved fishing, badminton, and soccer.
Mr. Makkhavane was preceded in death by his sister Yatfa Sihanouraj.
He is survived by his wife, Thongkhane Hansana; two sisters, Thongsavanh and Chaisanga; his children, Deck, Toy, Sack, Prissana, Ratt, Jackie, Bobby, Sandra and Rolando and Loara; and 13 grandchildren, Alison, Sidney, Britney, Vinney, Whitney, Christopher, Christian, Ethan, Bradley, Rylen, Aden, Naliyah and Shyanne.
Visitation for Mr. Makkhavane will be on Friday, April 1st, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Home Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, Amarillo, Texas.
Service for Mr. Makkhavane will be Saturday, April 2nd,2022 at 2:00 PM at North Amarillo Church of Christ, 801 NE 15th Street in Amarillo, Texas. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
