Maganbhai Ranchhodbhai Patel was born June 6th, 1920 in Bajipura, Gujarat, India and had 3 brothers and 2 sisters. At a young age, he established his career as a farmer to support his family. In 1943, he married Dahiben Patel and together they raised 5 sons and 1 daughter. After 60 years in India, in December of 1980, he moved to Pampa, Texas in the United States. While this was his “second home” he truly fell in love with everything that Pampa and Amarillo stood for. From Western Motel that helped support and stabilize his family’s start in the country to his eldest son, Ishwarbhai Maganbhai Patel, Pampa held a special place in his heart til the very end. He spent countless hours taking walks around the community, picking up cans and picking weeds along the way to “do his part” in staying active. He was defined by a simple no nonsense approach to life.
He is survived by his wife, his 4 sons, 1 daughter, 5 daughter-in-laws, 1 son-in-law, 17 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
