Loys Bradley Lookingbill

March 9, 1931 — April 12, 2019

Loys "Bradley" Lookingbill, 88, of Amarillo passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Pastor Bruce Clifton officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends from 5:30 to 7:30, Monday, April 15, 2019 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel.

Bradley was born on March 9, 1931 in Summerfield, TX, the oldest of five children to L.B. and Eva Noland Lookingbill. He was raised in Summerfield where he helped in farming, taking care of his younger siblings and worked in the little grocery store/gas station that the family owned. He graduated from Hereford High School in 1949 and was the class favorite.

Bradley married the love of his life, Donna Jean Holman in August 1950. Together they embarked on a very busy life, having six children of their own. Today that family has expanded to thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Bradley was a 32nd degree Past Master Mason for fifty years.

Bradley and "Jeanne" started married life in Hereford, moved to Plainview for a few years and then to Amarillo in 1957. He worked as the Parts Manager for Hedgecoke and Collins Motor Company in Amarillo for many years where he developed a love for Chrysler vehicles, especially fast ones, and may have been the cause of some of his boys getting speeding tickets. Bradley was known to lay down the rubber and the louder the skreech the better. He also put glass packs on the family vehicle! He was very picky about keeping the cars clean and waxed.

Bradley lived to work but camping was the family vacationing time with the favorite place being Red River. Somehow, he and Jeanne managed to squeeze eight people into a small pop up camper. After the family was raised, they moved to Tulia briefly and then to Hale Center where Bradley went to work in the feedlot business. He learned all about how to feed cattle to get the best weight gain and that is all he talked about for years, even learning how to use a laptop computer, after telling everyone he would never touch one. He worked for Cactus/Hale Center feeders from 1986 to 2008, retiring at age 77. Bradley loved to work and went back part time and filled in on occasion after retirement.

He is preceded in death by his wife Donna; his parents; two brothers, Bill Lookingbill and Jim Lookingbill; his sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth Ann Clearman and husband Jamie and his sister-in-law, Billie Hopson.

He is survived by three sons, David Lookingbill and wife Susan, Richard Lookingbill and wife Cathy and Brad Lookingbill and wife Charlotte; three daughters, Debbie Rigdon and husband Sam, Donna Brown and husband Mike and Becky Adams and husband Allen; thirteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a brother, Fred Lookingbill and wife Sandy; two sister-in-laws, Margaret Lookingbill and Shara Renner and numerous nieces and nephews.
