Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at
LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter Rd.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 10, 2012 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Gomez, Celebrant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church officiating.
Burial will be at Llano Cemetery by LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Funeral Directors, 8310 S. Coulter Rd.
Mr. Diaz was born June 21, 1925 in Amarillo to Santiago and Margarita Diaz. He graduated from Amarillo High School. He served in the United States Army during WWII where he received a Bronze Star. He married Rosario Talamantes on July 20, 1962 in Juarez, Mexico. Luis played in band called the Victor Diaz and the Sun Kings Band for many years and loved to play the trumpet and loved all kinds of music. He loved baseball, Notre Dame and Texas Aggie sports. Mr. Diaz was a very devote Catholic. He was a member of our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. His family, kids and grandchildren were his greatest pleasure. He was a very humble, loving and caring man. Luis and his wife would have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in July.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Maximina Quintana and his brother Victor Diaz
Survivors include his wife Rosario Diaz of the home; his daughters, Veronica Coffee and husband John and Patty Diaz, all of Amarillo; his son Martin Diaz of Amarillo; his sister Petra Castillo of Amarillo; his grandchildren, Ronnie Trujillo and wife Stacy of Amarillo, Jory Prado of San Antonio and Lauren Dubina of Amarillo; his great grandchildren, Damien Trujillo, Ethan
Trujillo and Jalen Trujillo, all of Amarillo, several nieces and nephews whom he was very fond of.
