Louie Robert Zanchettin

March 16, 1927 — January 1, 2010

Louie was born on March 16, 1927 to Vitale Marco Zanchettin and Anna Maria Rube in Amarillo, TX. , the eldest of four sons.  He attended Amarillo High School thru the start of his eleventh grade year and on September 21, 1944 he enlisted in the United States Navy Armed Forces, to serve in World War II.  Louie served on the USS Tazewell and the USS APC16.  After serving in the war he received an Honorable Discharge on August 15, 1946.  He returned to Amarillo and received his diploma from Amarillo High School.  On Christmas Eve 1951 he met what he called “the prettiest thing he had ever seen” and married Gladys Luella Cox in Clovis, NM.  They were married for 42 years up until her passing in March 1995.  After serving in the war Louie worked with his father and brother, Marcus in the family owned business Zanchettin Brothers Terrazzo and Tile Co. established in 1927.  Over the years Louie was awarded many Construction Specification Institute (C.S.I.) outstanding Craftsman awards. In 2004 Louie was presented and honored with the SIR award of the Panhandle of Texas Chapter-AGC for his contributions to the community based on skill, integrity and responsibility presented to him by the Association of General Contractors.  The list of his projects are many including the following: many public schools and universities, court houses, public building terrazzo floors, N.W.T.H., W.T. State University, Rick Husband International Airport and many others.  Louie enjoyed taking vacations with his family and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived bychildren: Robert Michael Zanchettin and wife Cheryl Lee, David Paul Zanchettin and Christopher Allan Zanchettin all of Amarillo, TX. Brother: Otello Vitale Zanchettin of Amarillo, TX 3 Grandchildren: Michael Shane Zanchettin and wife Nikia, Joshua Hunter Zanchettin and wife Jessica, and Caitlin Delaney Zanchettin. Sister in law: Betty Zanchettin
