Lois Chapman Duncan, 87 of Amarillo passed away on December 30, 2011. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 PM Monday, January 2, 2012 in LaGrone-Blackburn-Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 Coulter Road, with Jason Craft, Pastor of Messiah’s House officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, TX.
Mrs. Duncan was born January13, 1924 in Frost, Texas to Frank and Mandy Bowen. She worked hard her entire life to support her family. She had been a resident of Amarillo since 1942 and worked for Scivally’s Food Store and Furr Food Store and later worked at Walsh Food Service. She was an attendant at Bradley’s Laundry and ironed clothes for the public for many years. She enjoyed doing embroidery and playing dominoes. She enjoyed Country-Western music and loved to dance. She had always made it known that she hoped to be able to dance on her 100th birthday.
She was preceded in death by her three daughters, Rita Oldham, Doris Castleberry and Mary Owens; two brothers, Roy Bowen and George Bowen, two grandsons, a granddaughter and 1 great-great-grandson.
Survivors include her son, Clyde Meeks and wife Brenda of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Wanda Hardin; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 pm Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the funeral home.
