Lloyd Wayne Bright

November 8, 1956 — February 22, 2012

Mr. Bright was born Nov. 8, 1956, in Pampa to Nelson and Jane Bright. He was raised in Miami and graduated from Miami High School in 1975. After high school, he joined the Navy until his discharge in 1982. He married Starlet Ann Ortiz on Dec. 24, 1976, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Wayne worked as a technician for many years in the natural gas industry, was a skilled technician and was instrumental in training and leading others in the natural gas exploration field. Mr. Bright worked for Eagle Rock Energy for many years, as well as several other companies, his entire career and was involved in both land and offshore exploration of natural gas.

He was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. Wayne loved his country. He also loved riding his motorcycle and shooting his guns. He also had many other interests such as doing leatherwork and woodworking. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father.

Survivors include his wife, Starlet; two daughters, Johnelle Kanani Danner and husband Alan of Amarillo and Angela Malani Heyman and husband Matthew of Amarillo; his mother, Jane Bright of Miami; his brother, Master Sgt. Steven Bright and wife Donna, who are stationed in Korea, and their two sons, Marcus and Michael, his mother-in-law, Isabel Borreliz and husband Antonio of Amarillo; his father-in-law, John Ortiz and wife Nancy of Kaneohe, Hawaii; sisters-in-law Jarlene Norman of Bridge City and Sharmayne Miller and husband Dana of Miami; seven grandchildren, Monica, Alex, Bryce, Callie, Collin, Blake and Emmah Star; a niece, Kendra Miller and husband Henry of Portsmouth, Va.; a nephew, John Stribling and wife Kayla of Panhandle; and many other loving aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family suggests memorials be to Cornerstone Church, P.O. Box 3996, Amarillo, TX 79116.
