Linda Juanita Saunders, 64, of Amarillo died on Sunday August 10, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Thursday, August 14, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel with Dr. G.A. Roach officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm in Texline cemetery.

Linda was born on November 22, 1949 to James and Juanita Saunders in Liberal, Kansas. She graduated from Tucumcari High School in 1968 and attended Amarillo College and West Texas State University where she obtained her bachelor degree in Nursing. Linda was a nurse at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital for 18 years, Panhandle Surgical Hospital for 7 years and retired from the Veteran's Hospital after 12 years. She was extremely proud of her profession. Linda was a great seamstress and loved making clothes for everybody. She made surgical caps for her fellow nurses and doctors. She had her own wood lathe and enjoyed doing woodworking. Linda loved to cook meals for her family at every occasion and loved to go fishing in the lakes around Raton, NM. She was a friend to everyone and never met a stranger. She would talk to anybody and enjoyed going to the Senior Citizen Association and playing cards and games. She was truly the matriarch of the family taking care of the everyone in the family and always dispensing medical advice.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Julia Kay.

She is survived by a sister, Janet Saunders of Placitas, NM; two brothers, Jim Saunders of Gladstone, NM and Gary Saunders of Las Cruces, NM; two nephews, Kyle Saunders and fiance Nikki of Midland and Wade Saunders and wife Meritt of Washington, D.C.; two great nephews, Tanner Layne Saunders of Midland and Tanner James Saunders of Washington, D.C.

The family will be receiving friends from 5-6:30, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at LaGrone Blackburn Shaw Coulter Road Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter.
